I traveled to Santo Domingo(the capital of the Dominican Republic) on April 4th,2017.I visited San Pedro and Boca Chica(2 municipalities there). This is a beautiful country and the people there are welcoming and gracious. This is a must see vacation spot.
Santo Domingo the capital of the Dominican Republic pleasantly surprised us http://travelwith2ofus.com/utterly-amazed-by-los-tres-ojos-thrilled-by-santo-domingo.php. It's beautiful colonial architecture mixed with the modern structures added to the quaintness of the place. We were thrilled by the Three Eyes National Park or as it is locally known Los Tres Ojos. The Dominican Republic was our first stop on this cruise and we awoke already docked in the capital city of Santo Domingo. The first look we got of the city was amazing because the sun was now rising and its golden rays kissed the city and presented it majestically. http://travelwith2ofus.com/utterly-amazed-by-los-tres-ojos-thrilled-by-santo-domingo.php

The island of Hispaniola, which today is the home of the Dominican Republic and the Republic of Haiti, was originally home to the Taino Indians. The Taino's were ruled by a cacique (cheif) and an impressively complex central government system. When the Europeans first arrived on Hispaniola, headed by Christopher Columbus, in 1492, the Spanish overpowered the Taino government and civilization. Christopher Columbus' brother, Bartholomew Columbus, officially founded the city of Santo Domingo on August 5, 1498. However, the city actually dates back to 1496, when the first Europeans settled in the area.

My friends and i took a 5 days, 4 nights vacation to a resort in Boca Chica in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. The resort was called Hotel Be Live Hamaca and it was all inclusive. This video is a summary of our experience, we went to the beach everyday, ate a lot, drank a lot and took a tour of the city. The staff at the resort were very friendly and helpful. Everything we needed was at the resort so we only spent money of the site seeing and souvenirs. Thank you for watching, please do not forget to like, comment, and share. The United States has always had a close relationship with the Dominican Republic. During the 19th century, it treated the Caribbean island as "subsidiary" and never hesitated to invade the sovereign nation if its political situation didn't suit their needs. Meanwhile, it provided ample backing to any Dominican regime that was willing to push the US' agenda, even if this meant supporting the cruelest dictator in the history of Latin America. In this revealing and analytic program, we will visit the Dominican Republic's Free Trade Zones, where sweatshop workers will tell us about the slave-like working conditions they had to endure while manufacturing garments for US brands and, many times, even working for US clothes manufacturing companies based at the zone. Besides the Free Trade Zones, ...

The recorded history of the Dominican Republic began on 5 December 1492 when the European navigator Christopher Columbus happened upon a large island in the region of the western Atlantic Ocean that later came to be known as the Caribbean. It was inhabited by the Taíno, an Arawakan people, who variously called their island Ayiti, Bohio, or Quisqueya. Columbus promptly claimed the island for the Spanish Crown, naming it La Isla Española, later Latinized to Hispaniola. What would become the Dominican Republic was the Spanish Captaincy General of Santo Domingo until 1821 except for a time as a French colony from 1795 to 1809. It was then part of a unified Hispaniola with Haiti from 1821 until 1844. In 1844, Dominican independence was proclaimed and the republic, which was often known as Santo...
